Telling your Child's Story
Talking about your child, telling your child’s story -- which is also your story -- can be an important way to keep your child's memory alive and make meaning of their life. Most parents tell us they want to talk about their child, to say their child’s name, to have their child not be forgotten.
It may feel difficult to talk about your child, even within your family or with a close friend. Although it seems unfair, you may need to be the one to begin the conversation as others are often reluctant to ask for fear of upsetting you. You can show them that you want to talk and invite them to share memories.
There are options to record your child's story through Story Corps – https://storycorps.org/participate/storycorps-app/ a free mobile app puts the StoryCorps experience entirely in your hands so that you can record and archive a meaningful conversation with anyone, anywhere.
