Working with the Care Team
During your child’s illness journey you will meet many clinicians and other medical professionals. Hopefully, you will find practitioners with whom you feel connected, and you will develop a level of trust and open lines of communication with them. What is most important is that you and the clinicians all want to care for your child and to make their life better and more comfortable. You are a team: they are medical experts, responsible for various aspects of the condition and symptom management; you are the expert on your child and their advocate. A good relationship means listening to and respecting each other, so that together you can make the best possible decisions on behalf of your child and family.
