Parenting Partnership/Marriage and Siblings

It is likely that you have been your child’s primary caregiver throughout their illness. You now share a sense of loss that only parenting partners can understand. But as you cope with your own grief, you may at times have difficulty supporting others—including your partner. And there is the added responsibility of knowing that any other children will be watching how the adults navigate this together.

It’s not uncommon for each of you to feel lost and scared. You may even be tempted to withdraw from your relationship. Many families discover, however, that finding ways to acknowledge and share this unique and terrible experience brings comfort and greater closeness.
