User Privacy Policy

  1. Our Commitment to Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

  1. The Information We Collect

We collect and store any information you enter on CPN’s Website, or provide to us in offline contacts we have with you. Information is collected from visitors to the Website in the following areas:

  • REGISTRATION FORMS—if you register for the Website, or for specific events, contests, and newsletters on various areas of the Website, we will generally ask you to provide contact information and preferences regarding the event or material for which you desire to register. You may, however, visit our Website without registering.
  • SURVEYS—At times, you may be asked to complete survey questions that appear on the Website.
  • DISCUSSION FORUMS—We may make chat rooms, blog entries, forums, message boards, and/or news groups available to our users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. Specifically, with regard to sensitive information such as sharing the names and medical diagnoses of children, please remember that you are choosing to share this information in a public forum and making this information publicly available. Please exercise caution in deciding what information to share.
  • E-MAIL—On several screens of our Website, you also have an opportunity to communicate with us by e-mail. You may also choose to provide your e-mail address to receive communications from us or affiliated third parties.
  • INFORMATION COLLECTED AND STORED AUTOMATICALLY—When you browse our Website, you and your Web browser may also transmit information that we automatically collect. We do log your IP address (the Internet address of your computer), the webpages you visit, the time of your visit, and other click-stream data. This information may be combined with other personal information you have provided. The only other type of information automatically provided to us is the type of computer, operating system, and browser you are using. This information is provided by your browser, which we use to improve the performance of our Website. Such information, which is collected passively using various technologies, cannot presently be used to specifically identify you. CPN may store such information itself or such information may be included in databases owned and maintained by CPN’s affiliates, agents, or service providers. This Website may use such information and pool it with other information to track, for example, the total number of visitors to our Website, the number of visitors to each page of our Website, and the domain names of our visitors’ Internet service providers. It is important to note that no Personal Data is available or used in this process.
  1. How We Use Your Personal Information

CPN uses the Personal Data you provide in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy. If you provide Personal Data for a certain reason, we may use the Personal Data in connection with the reason for which it was provided. We use your personal information to communicate with you if and when necessary in connection with your use of our Website, to respond to your questions, or to send you material and information you request. We may use your information to:

  • Personalize your Website experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product information in which you are most interested;
  • Consider your suggestions;
  • Respond directly to you for clarification;
  • Process your request for materials if you make one;
  • Try to and answer your questions if you ask them;
  • Provide you with e-mail messages and other information regarding upcoming events, new services and general information about our Website. (NOTE: You may elect not to receive these communications, either when you initially register at our site, or at any time thereafter. See the section of this Privacy Statement called “Choice/Opt Out.”)
We may also use your personal information in order to help diagnose problems with our Website. We may use all information we collect to analyze statistical use patterns and demographic data (basically, where our visitors come from and what demographic characteristics they have) and to improve our Website to better serve our community. We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our servers and to administer our Website. Your IP address is used to help identify you and to gather broad demographic information. We may also prepare and keep statistical records and other data about you and other users of our Website, but we do that in a way that does not identify you or any other user personally. We may hire third parties to help us collect and analyze such data, and we may share such statistical data with third parties. Again, such statistical data will not specifically identify you or any other user. We use this information to help us make our Website more useful to visitors—to learn about the number of visitors to our Website, what part of the Website they are interested in, how long they use the Website, and the types of technology our visitors use.
  1. Disclosing Your Personal Information to Others

Except in the limited circumstances stated in this paragraph, we do not sell, rent, license, trade, or otherwise disclose the personal information of our Website visitors to unaffiliated third parties.
We may disclose your information to service providers who assist us in operating the Website or conducting our business. We may also share such information among our subsidiaries and affiliates as necessary to provide you with the information and services you request or in which you may otherwise be interested. We may disclose information about you if and when we believe it is necessary to comply with any law, rule, court order, or subpoena, or to enforce our legal rights or the rules of this Website, or to protect our business, property, and operations, or in connection with a sale, acquisition, merger, or other business combination of our business with a third party. We may also disclose non-personally identifiable visitor information to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

Some areas of the Website may allow you to conduct e-commerce transactions (event registration, donation, etc.). In connection with these transactions, we collect data necessary to complete the transaction that is furnished by you. This information may be furnished to a third party in order to facilitate the transaction.

  1. Links to Other Sites

CPN or its users may create or post links to other websites that may be of interest to you. We do not endorse any other websites, and our privacy policy applies only to your use of our Website. We have not reviewed the privacy policies of any websites to which CPN or its users may create or post a link to on our Website, and you should read the privacy policies of each website you visit to determine what information that website may collect about you.

  1. Our Commitment to Data Security

Because CPN is committed to your privacy and security, we have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to attempt to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information we collect online. Please remember, however, that no transmission of data over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while CPN strives to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information that you transmit to us or from us, and you do so at your own risk. When you transmit your personal information, we offer the use of a secure server. Once CPN receives your transmission, we use our best efforts to ensure its security on our systems.

  1. Changes in CPN’s User Privacy Policy

By using our Website, you consent to our collection and the use of your personal information as described in this User Privacy Policy. If CPN changes its User Privacy Policy, we will post these changes on our Website. You have the opportunity to review the User Privacy Policy each time you use the Website so that you are aware of any modifications. Your continued use of the Website after any changes or revisions to this Privacy Policy shall indicate your agreement with the terms of such revised Privacy Policy.

  1. Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, CPN never collects or maintains information at our Website from individuals we actually know are under 13, and no part of our Website is structured to attract anyone under 13. If you are under the age of 13, please do not submit any Personal Data through the Site. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce our Privacy Policy by instructing their children never to provide Personal Data on this Website without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 13 has provided Personal Data to Company through this Website, please contact us, and we will endeavor to delete that information from our databases.

  1. Social Media

Through the Website, you can choose to access certain social media websites and services that are owned and/or controlled by third parties (including, without limitation, Facebook) (such websites and services, collectively, the “Social Media Services”). When you elect to access and use the Social Media Services, you will be sharing your information (which will include personal information if you elect to share such information) with those Social Media Services. As with other Third Party Sites, the information that you share with the Social Media Services will be governed by the privacy policies and terms of service of the providers of such Social Media Services and not by the policies and procedures we describe here. You may also be able to modify your privacy settings with these Social Media Services to, for example, control what information the Social Media Services disclose to other entities, including CPN.

  1. Choice/Opt-Out

Our Website provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from CPN at the point where we request information about the visitor. You have the following option for reviewing or removing your information from our database to no longer receive communications from us. If you request your account information be deleted from our database, we may maintain information about prior transactions for recordkeeping and servicing.

You can send e-mail to privacy@api.courageousparentsnetwork.org

Please note that due to e-mail production schedules, you may receive an e-mail message from us after you have provided your opt-out notice.

  1. How You Can Access or Correct Your Information

To protect your privacy and security, CPN will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.
