About Courageous Parents Network

Courageous Parents Network (CPN) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2014 by a bereaved family making sense of their experience and looking to share what had been most helpful with others who would care for a child with a serious medical condition.

CPN has significantly grown since its origination as an online video library. The organization offers a wide range of curated digital resources and programming designed to help caregivers navigate that path with support and a sense of community. These resources include video and audio interviews, educational guides, a parent-generated blog, and a clinician portal offering materials for use in self- and colleague education. Programming also includes a robust social media presence, monthly educational webinars and newsletters, and both live and virtual presentations to clinician audiences, biotech leaders, and patient organizations. CPN annually honors a clinician with the Courageous Provider Award and partners with others to bring the family perspective to clinical research and a wide range of communication (or media) outlets.

What began as a single digital presence has blossomed into a set of portals (initiatives) designed to meet the diverse and evolving needs of the families and clinicians that CPN serves. The content of the original CPN site, rearchitected and redesigned in 2025, has been renamed Navigating Medical Complexity. It is joined by NeuroJourney, for caregivers accompanying a child with Severe Neurological Impairment (SNI). Coping with Loss is devoted to grief in bereavement following the death of a child. All share easy access to the Courageous Parents Network general information, media library, blog and events roster.

As you explore these assets, you’ll note some themes and principles that reflect the Courageous Parents Network philosophy:

  • Content designed to apply to families regardless of diagnosis
  • Diverse points of view and experience presented without bias (no “right” and no “wrong”)
  • Emphasis on the positive impact of palliative and “palliative-aware” practice

It is our greatest hope that our constituents will find in these resources the courage and confidence to function, thrive and grow through the journey—knowing that they are not alone.
